Living in the High Sonoran Desert of Arizona, I’m a third-generation palette-knife oil painter of Southwest landscapes. My grandmother Florence Sackett taught my parents Linda Lee and Kerry Kinman how to paint with a palette knife and then they taught me. Now I’m passing that on to my wife, Rachel Kinman, and four children. I love painting the saguaro, ocotillo, and beavertail cactus in the Sonoran mountains. In all those prickly thorns there’s a quiet serenity and colorful beauty that draws me in.
For three generations my family has made a living traveling to art shows on the West Coast and teaching art classes to all ages and learning levels, including special needs. After thirty-five years of painting, I continue to grow as an artist and fortunate to have exhibited in prestigious art galleries and shows in California, Oregon, and Arizona.
